BriandKilby | 09-Mar-11 14:54 | will they be ready in time for the Doolittle raid? |
BillParker | 09-Mar-11 16:09 | these are just practice for the big one. At 28" regular size, the big one will be 112" wingspan. (9' 4") The plans are already blown up and reassembled. A little drafting, and I'll be ready to start cutting plywaood... (I guess I better got buy some, eh?) |
BriandKilby | 09-Mar-11 17:02 | did you ever have trouble building one, that's to big, for your work area or surroundings? |
lukebozek1 | 09-Mar-11 18:19 | Bill, do your neighbors ever wonder what these gigantic things in the driveway are? Do you need some Hazmat stickers or anything? Just let me know okay? |
BillParker | 09-Mar-11 23:38 | when we built the C-46, at 117" http://www.parkerinfo.com/ap60.htm I discovered that it was too big to handle very well all by myself. Not really too heavy, but really awkward. The build photos for this thing show it hanging from the garage door opener with some nylon rope and coat hanger hooks from the hardpoints that I preach about all the time. Every morning, I'd move out the cars and try to hook the plane up on the rope so I could work with it, then in the evening unhook it and put it back on the table... It was a beeeeotch... I'm engineering the B-25 so that rather than one piece wings, I'd like it to have removable wings for transport. I think... Maybe... The P-38 is still here because it won't fit into anybuddy's truck. Who has a big truck, lives close, and want's a Lightning for their ceiling? We had a bunch of em in the driveway one afternoon, taking pics. It looked kind of kewl... see http://www.parkerinfo.com/spitstang.jpg ... |
