stirling | 07-Nov-09 17:23 | My attempt at a Sperry ball turret. Fashioned from ping pong ball of all things. |
Roring40 | 07-Nov-09 17:37 | Ha ! Improvisation - luv it. Nice work. That Lib is really coming along. |
David Duckett | 07-Nov-09 17:46 | Indeed! I second both comments. |
stirling | 07-Nov-09 18:26 | Thanks guys. The windows might need some thinking about but I plan to try the "Testors clear cement and window maker" first. If that fails then I might have to vac form an insert or something. |
Xanadu | 08-Nov-09 17:18 | Excellent idea...........kudos to you! |
poppy | 08-Nov-09 17:22 | Great innovation, beautiful work. |
poppy | 08-Nov-09 18:37 | An idea for glass panels; use .010 guage clear plastic, cut panels as large as comfortable to cover as many openings at one time as possible, and run a thin bead of white glue around edges, hold in place till pieces begin to bond, takes 5-10 minutes. I usually squeeze glue onto a piece of wax paper and let thicken a few minutes b-4 applying, then use a toothpick to run around the edges. The glue will completely bond in 12-24 hrs, but can be removed with water before it is painted, if needed. If any glue gets on clear showing portion, it will dry clear and cannot be seen. On outside clear surfaces, it can be removed with a moistened toothpick if desired. I use this on all my canopy installations, both wooden and plastic models. |
Creosotewind | 15-Jan-10 06:10 | Wow, this looks great. Check your hobby store for clear plastic adhesive. It is the same stuff watchmakers use to attach the glass faces. Holds well and dries absolutely clear. I used it on my Piper Cub. |
