simpleflyer | 20-Apr-08 19:31 | Top wing LE rounded off and half of the ribs glued in. Only cracked 2 and broke one so far. |
Barnstormer | 20-Apr-08 19:47 | Wow! this looks like a very delicate build. I'm not sure I could do this without cracking or breaking stuff too. |
simpleflyer | 21-Apr-08 23:56 | It is a tedious and delicate build. When I put the plans on the board earlier in the year, I looked at them for a week or so and was discouraged at its complexity and put it aside. But the Wright 1903 flyer is one of my all time favorite airplanes. So I've decided to tackle it anyway. I just convinced myself that it is only a bunch of sticks and to go ahead and glue them together - one stick at a time and to be very patient and careful. |
Tallguy | 01-Jul-12 18:09 | Hi, I'm just starting this build, and I've been studying both yours and David Duckett's build threads - you've both done outstanding jobs. Unfortunately, the instructions don't say when to shape the leading edge. The only mention of sanding is after all the ribs in place. From your comment above, it sounds as if you shaped it before you glued all the ribs on(?). I'd appreciate it if you could confirm. Thanks, Roger. |
