moostang51 | 04-Jan-08 17:52 | DD, here's what is refabbed so far. Used Bud Nosen Models' AAA balsawood. Very light, straight and super workable. Paid under $4.00 for 5 sheets of 3/32"x2"x36" at LHS. Was a pleasur to work with this material. |
John M Oshust | 04-Jan-08 17:55 | Moos...T-ts, I must purchase a scroll saw! |
moostang51 | 04-Jan-08 18:07 | Johnny O!! Unless you do marquetry, save your cash. The scroll saw was a novel idea but being that balsa is so soft, I would have needed a veneer blade which would made sanding the sawn edges a breeze. These were cut with an exacto knife. No dust, no noise and the minimal sanding I spoke of. |
John M Oshust | 04-Jan-08 21:59 | Gee Moos a Guillows plane made with quality balsa...what a novel idea! |
John M Oshust | 04-Jan-08 22:00 | Cannot do marquetry until I look up the meaning! I guess my coping saws will do! |
