noticed the lower wing position on this Guillows kit bears no actual relationship to the real aircraft so have had to try and lower it somewhat for an accurate display model. Curse myself for double checking the reference photo's as it creates yet another problem to solve. This model will never be finished !!!

Solving problems is all part of this hobby, in fact, a daily thing. Your work looks great and as if you have a fix in the works so "onward through the fog" and it will be finished. Did you get my reference to covering a few posts back?

Hey Nigel, its looking good and will be amazing when finished. Will you add tissue over the sheeting?

Thanks guys, point noted David, it's a bit of the old JFK thing isn't it , as in "we do these things not because they are easy but beacuse they are hard". Many thanks for the ref. On the covering David, your work is amazing and it's a fantastic resource that's really helping me out. I'm sure Rueben199 agrees, he's the other Kiwi who is tapping into this awesome knowledge base. Cheers for your help.

Hey Rueben, still undecided on the tissue covering. Can't get hold of silkspan as recommended by David - just another blank look from the local hobby shop. I imagine that normal tissue won't be as easy to apply or give as good a result as silkspan ? Any thoughts on this David ?

Hey Nigel, would airsail have silkspan? there is a local older builder here who I have started buying supplies off, I will ask him if He knows of any suppliers locally.

Thanks Reuben, I note they have something called Fibafilm and wonder if this is the equivalent ? All the others look to be synthetics of one type or another.

I believe the material that comes with your kit is actually a light silkspan. It handles the same as the heavier grade I use, you just have to be a bit more careful applying it. It will also require a bit more dope to seal before painting. It can easily be used over the wood areas. Silkspan is available in three grades and is available from Tower Hobbies as well as other shops. It's sold in packs of 30 sheets for about $40. Going to the LHS's here is not much different than what you describe and I've gotten to rely on the internet for just about everything. In your case, finding someone who will ship internationally is the secret. I'm sure there are several places that offer shipping overseas and a good selection of merchandise relative to balsa kit building. Shorty's Basement?
