Dale1416 | 11-Jul-12 16:25 | Here is my Comet kit, Jenny, copyrighted 1965, with a 24" wingspan that was recently bought at a swap meet for $1. There were some common structural pieces missing, no wheels, but most of the diecut pieces were there. Will be posting my build of this Jenny probably by next month. |
Pauli72 | 11-Jul-12 22:58 | That's a nice deal for the price Dale. How was the quality of the balsa that was still there? Just wondering if it is workable after all those years of sitting around. |
TJH | 12-Jul-12 06:43 | Can't complain for $1!!! I built a Comet kit (Porterfield 65) several years ago with the original balsa and it wasn't too bad at all. Looking forward to seeing the Jenny! |
deckape | 12-Jul-12 10:56 | Ahoy Dale I seen a lot of those comet kits K-MART had hundreds of these kits durring the 1970,s they were cheap to0o, is the wood printed or Die cut.? Boats |
Dale1416 | 12-Jul-12 13:02 | Only had to buy 3/16" sq. balsa for leading edges and 1/2" wide x 1/16" for trailing edges. Wing spars, stringers and die cut balsa parts were usable. |
deckape | 12-Jul-12 14:55 | Sorry to hear about that Dale thats the problem with those old Comet and Sterling kits the diecut parts are more crushed then diecut rendering them impossible for you use but with full patterns on the plans does make life easy, you will get it all squared away I am assured. boats |
