My approach to wing filets. This usually requires two applications and can be done with other fillers. |

Dave, is that black strip tape? |
David Duckett | 05-Aug-11 10:15 |
It's blue Scotch tape cut into strips. |

is it posssible to mask on tissue, everytime i do it it rips a hole in the tissue when i pull the tape off. maybe it's a certain tape? |

At this point there are at least three coats of nitrate dope on the entire thing so there's much less chance of damaging the silkspan. Also, it's silkspan and is stronger than tissue. The blue tape has less "tack" than white masking tape so it doesn't stick to the surface as firmly. |

can you apply silkspan if you use diluted glue, cause i use enamel? |
David Duckett | 06-Aug-11 10:17 |
Many folks use 50/50 white glue mix, some use a glue stick, I use dope. I don't use enamel for anything. |

I tried enamel once, many years ago. Bad, very bad. Acrylics forever! Spray, brush it doesn't matter. Great results, fantastic color choices and it cleans up easy. Focus on the Easy part. Especially for the aroma. |

i like enamel because it doesn't dry as fast. what are the advantage of acrylics? |

Is there one of those fillet (Guillows M1 pieces) under the area that connects from fuse to the wing? I would imagine that the filler would just fall down in that area without?
Thanks |

Yes, there's a piece underneath ;-) All my models are painted with acrylic paint for all the reasons Luke mentions. I thought I had already preached enough. |
