Top wing glued in place.

I had the upper end of all the flying, landing, and cabane strut wires attached before gluing the wing in place so I wouldn't have to do everything between the wings. It's still gonna be a pain. It took about 20 minutes just to make the front cabane connections to the top of the fuselage. Threading the little beads onto a doubled wire will make your eyes cross and your fingers go numb. The tape on the upper ailerons is holding them level until I add the hinged connecting rods between the upper and lower ailerons. The lower ailerons work from the stick and I'm hoping the upper ones will too.

Just terrific work here - the SE-5 was the very first model I ever tried to build so many years ago. This is a tour de force in every aspect..framing, covering, cockpit and control, fit and finish! Beauty

Perfecto! And I am willing to bet that there is no one on this site who believes that those upper ailerons will not work as planned.

Thanks guys. I've had working ailerons on my bucket list for ages. I've had limited success with the Stearman, Nieuport 11, and Camel so far. The Fokker DR1 with the pulleys and cables was a bust. This may be the one. The elevator controls on the SE5a were pulleys and cables within the horizontal stabilizer. I had to sacrifice that authenticity to have everything work from the cockpit.

I admire your persistence. I tried years ago with my Stearman. Never got the connection to the stick and pedals right, so I gave up. Regardless, it's gorgeous.

Yours is gorgeous is what I meant.
