David Duckett | 02-Jul-07 09:06 | I think a better method would be to double the thickness of the frames and use the plastic, or similar material, as a hinge. The extra thickness will make it much easier and will also make the frames look more realistic as you'll be able to shape them better. You might also consider why you want them to move. I used to build all the surfaces to move, and the wheels retract and all the stuff that was there but these days I don't. I do build the tail feathers as separate pieces but only to show the definition, not to move. All those extra things make a plane look better but how often will the features be used after it's built? Chances are after you get over showing it off and that it can do those things it will find a place and those moving features will not be moving. All the extra love that you put into one of these will certainly show but unless it's flying it truly is static. And one more thing...unless the hinge material is up to being glued in you might break it off playing with it. But of course, adults don't play with their toys so it shouldn't be a problem. |
