I decided to build the 500 series Bf 109 because it is almost exactly 1/24th scale and after building the 500 series Fw 190 I found the 500 series to e an exceptional value that, with a little bit o extra work, builds into a really good looking model that compares favourably with models twice or three times the price.

Unfortunately the box art shows a Bf 109E while the kit actually is more of a 109B/C with a quite different and rather inacturate shaped nose.

Actually Jerry, after in depth research, this is a very rare version unknown to many. It's the "V" model.

pfinn. The V used by German aircraft manufacturers stands for versuchs (experiental). Versuchs aircraft were usually handmade one of a kind that was built in advance of "O" series pre-production machines that may or may not go into production. There were a number of versuchs 109s, hence 109V-1, 109V-2, 109V-3 etc. However in looking at numerous photos of 109s I’ve not seen any thing that resembles the air intake on the vac nose supplied by Guillows. To which rare 109V do you refer?

Sorry Jerry, I didn't know there were "V" types at all. I was making a little joke. As you've found out as I did the Ser. 500 109's design is quite....."Vague". They just made this thing up. The discrepencies abound. That's why I tried a bunch of different and new (to me) techniques on mine. Sorry again. Phil.

Also check the horizontal stab location.

Check the comparison that I loaded into my hangar of the drawing off the Guillow's plan with a supposedly accurate drawing of a Bf-109C/D that I got from a German web site. The Guillow's version is definately stand off scale!
