heywooood | 05-Jul-20 21:10 | decided to make my own Wasp radial engine - this is the beginning of that process |
Don C | 06-Jul-20 09:57 | Good start. |
edbecky | 07-Jul-20 10:59 | Looks good. What did you use for cooling fins? |
heywooood | 07-Jul-20 12:59 | Its just thread. I was trying out a couple of ‘thicknesses’ of it to see what looked best and went with this one. Takes a bit of time but you can end up with a decent representation |
edbecky | 07-Jul-20 20:22 | I would imagine it would take a while to wrap each and keep it uniform. Really looks nice. |
heywooood | 08-Jul-20 01:16 | Yes and no - keeping the thread smooth and uniform with no gaps or crossovers is the mission. Like everything else, the more you do it, the more technique you establish and the faster you can get. My problem now is hand soreness. After wrapping two cylinders I had to take a break and do something else before I could resume. I appreciate the positive remarks - thank you. I have the fuselage infill done and have applied a layer of filler to it. Should be able to post pictures of it tomorrow |
