David Duckett | 26-Feb-10 13:38 | I heard that! |
BillParker | 26-Feb-10 14:00 | is that a beaver, or an EWOK? |
David Duckett | 26-Feb-10 14:17 | It's the gopher from Caddyshack. |
Ken Miller | 17-Mar-10 14:56 | In an eariler post you had said: "I'm sheeting the top with 1/32" balsa which has been given an application of filler on both sides and then sanded before attaching." |
David Duckett | 17-Mar-10 15:19 | OK...I found that a coat of filler not only helps seal the wood but also strengthens it. In the only time I tried to sheet anything with 1/32" balsa all the underlying stringers showed as if I had covered it with a thick silkspan. So I put a coat of filler on each side of the 1/32" sheet and sanded it down before gluing it onto the wing. It seems to have worked fairly well as none of the ribs or stringers show. I have used this technique before on smaller pieces by wetting the wood first and curving it and applying the filler when dry. |
Ken Miller | 17-Mar-10 15:23 | Oops...did not see my post or your answer so I asked again. Ignore |
