Getting there (love the Trexler wheels)

Wow, very nice. I like trexlers also, and I am trying my first scratch built model, (also a Piper Super Cub 95.) and would like some tips on building. Any infomation would be greatly appricated.

Tips from me? Regarding this model or models in general? If it is in general the only tip I have picked up worth sharing is find someone better than you and learn from them. The last Model I built was a guillows c-150 and while it did fly my building skills were less than desirable. This build is coming along a lot more smoothly and lethodically but alot of this is due to external factor namely taking my queue from more experienced builders.

i would like some tips on cutting balsa, as so far I am alright at putting pre-cut kits together, but I have had trouble cutting my own pieces. (using carbon tracing paper and a "x-acto".)

If you have printed (or photocopied) plans then try one of these techniques. On the other hand, if you have Guillow's die cut wood then use it as the pattern to cut a new part. This can work really well if you are (un?)fortunate enough to get some of the wood that is hard as a rock, that way your pattern is not damaged while cutting the new part. Just stick the Guillow's wood pattern to your new balsa sheet with a glue stick or similar. You can also photocopy the pattern from the Guillow's plan (which is probably more accurate to begin with) and use one of the methods linked above.

Thanks, The photocopy or tracing glued to the balsa with a gluestick seems like the method I will use. Lots of good info on the site too. ☺
