David Duckett | 29-May-10 18:51 | The fuselage has three coats of nitrate dope and then pure Liquitex Titanium White with no other primer. This is after about three coats and there will be several more. The covered wings also have three coats of dope and are glued in place. The fuselage is not covered with silkspan. |
Creosotewind | 02-Jun-10 05:28 | DD, what do you add (if anything) to the Liquitex to not have any brush strokes? |
David Duckett | 02-Jun-10 07:07 | The only thing I ever add is water. The paint is applied in thin coats and the rest would be "brush technique". I've spent many years painting on canvas with acrylics and keeping the surface smooth was an important part. The only time you will ever see a brush stroke is if I intend it, which is very rare. It's just the way I paint. |
iseaalbert | 02-Jun-10 12:07 | That blows my mind!! When it comes to FS colors, I guess you don't use pre mixed hobby paint, but rather create your own mix of liquitex paint. Is that so? |
David Duckett | 02-Jun-10 15:24 | That's correct. |
