It has lots of paint on it which will now sit undisturbed until next week. I need to add a gloss medium to the yellow to make it shiny before I paint on the distinctive side exhaust panels and the wing walks which are flat black.

Gloss medium! Never thought of that. Thanks for the tip DD. It's looking Very sweet. The two toughest colors for me to apply are white and yellow as they are so translucent that I end up laying them on too thick.

Thanks, Ray. I have never used it for a model but it should work. After all this paint the yellow is still fairly flat. While covers better over a coat of light gray, just enough black in it to make it gray. For this I started with several coats of a mixture of yellow, white, and brown. Then I added more yellow to the mix and applied a few more coats. Finally I added more yellow and then had to whiten it up to what it is now.

Very nice, DD. Now I need to ask, What is gloss medium? The P-61 is in the paint shop, but I'm afraid it won't look as good as this.

A medium is something added to the paint to change its characteristics. Gloss medium makes the paint shiny, matte medium makes it dull. Other mediums thicken and one makes the paint dry slower so it can be handled like oil paint. There are also mediums just for oil paint.

So much to learn and so little time left. Thanks for the information.

Dsvid, I'm still astonished by what you can do with a brush.

Thank you, Howard.
