| John - those gunners had to stand up to shoot downwards, and crouch down to shoot upwards, and spin around that scarf ring with a machine gun on it - how did that seat (stool?) work? |

| Well the Lewis could pivot up and down on the gun ring. The Scraff ring moved the gun left and right. To shoot down the gunner had to rotate the ring left or right then point the gun down while lowering the gun mounting ring. Like I said... Dancing with a machine gun!! The up shot is easy the down has limits imposed by the fuselage. |

| I meant the chair - were they really attached to the scarf ring and spun with the scarf ring with the gun always in front of the chair ? |

| I cannot say all had a chair but one photo I came across clearly shows the body hugging snuggling back. |
