rayl | 19-Feb-15 13:11 | David; In warmer times, we hang out a Lake Okoboji, about 15 miles north. It is one of two "Blue Water" lakes, the other being Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Deep and cold! |
John M Oshust | 19-Feb-15 14:21 | rayl....FYI Lake Baikal in Siberia is blue, and very cold. 216,000sq miles. Average depth 2,442 ft., max depth 5,387 ft. It contains 20% of the world's unfrozen fresh water. |

Don C | 19-Feb-15 14:34 | Used to go down there with my Aunt and Uncle who lived in Heron Lake, MN. Nice place. Wasn't so crowded in the 50's. |
rayl | 19-Feb-15 15:09 | Well. Having heard, and believed, the local tourism B.S. for most of my life, I stand suitably chastised and humble. All that being said, it's still a great place to have a good time.
Don C: I sold my (classic)19 ft. Run-about several years ago because the other boaters made it unsafe to venture out on the lake on the weekends |
David Duckett | 20-Feb-15 06:11 | http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_a_blue_water_lake According to this, Lake Okoboji is one of only three blue lakes in the world. Lake Baikal is a freshwater lake but is not listed as a "blue lake". |
Xanadu | 20-Feb-15 06:28 | Lake Louise in BC Canada being the third. |
John M Oshust | 20-Feb-15 06:56 | Never said Biakal was a blue water lake. Just said it is blue and deep:-) |
