After wrestling the snow thrower again, I helped Gumby sheet the lower surface of the lower wings. Carbon rods pass thru the fuselage and align and hold the lower airfoils. |

I like the carbon rod idea. I went back looking when you had both airfoils attached and didn't see them. I was trying to understand how you lined up the holes in the 3 pieces. Could you please enlighten me? |

Those pictures used wooden dowels. My supply of carbon rods was exhausted and I was awaiting re supply from Tower Hobbies. The upper wing will also utilize carbon rods in its alignment and assembly. The location of the alignment holes came from the kit ribs and fuselage sides. In the upper wing I made a construction error and replaced the kit alignment plywood spars with rods. I duplicated the kit supplied lower wing holes in the ribs in the upper wing. Much to our surprise when we inserted the dowels the foils lined up. |

It IS nice when things work as they should. I'm thinking of ways to be sure the joints on the Commando's wings are strong enough. The plans just are to glue the 2 ribs together. A questionable joint. Thanks |

The commando is a substantial plane. Me thinks if you just "glue" the wing roots to the wings displaying the model on your super LG would be adequet. What could happen if it was lifted and handled by only it's wings? Each build is is an adventure. Each adventure improves your technique improving the design and construction of the next one! |
