heywooood | 24-Sep-19 23:50 | I finally sourced the sheet balsa I need. Dunno if I mentioned it but apparently there is a shortage of balsa - none of my local shops have any stock in the common sizes. Order has been placed with nationalbalsa.com and as soon as it arrives I'll be back in business. I'll also let you know of the quality of the material they send me. The prices were good but what they charge for shipping ate into the discount a bit..still cheaper than it was and I don't have to drive anywhere at 4.50 a gallon |
edbecky | 25-Sep-19 18:43 | $4.50 a gallon in San Diego!!! I'm still mad about $2.19. It was a $1.98 last week. Glad you got your balsa. An artist should not be deprived of his canvas. |
heywooood | 28-Sep-19 21:12 | researching the aircraft and the model kit mfg has been interesting. The kit from American Telasco Ltd was designed by Paul Del Gatto, who designed a number of aircraft and other vehicles around the 'Jetex' motors and wrote many articles and books about the subject. The kits were designed from the the late 50's to early 60's or the same era as the Cougar and Panther. The infancy of US Navy carrier jet technology. Fun Fact - the Jetex engines might be best known historically for their use by the 'Supermarionation' tv shows - 'Stingray' and 'Thunderbirds' as a special effect.. |
