bobgood | 25-Jan-21 14:33 | Very nice indeed! Super job. A question... In the Tiger Moth that I learnt to fly, in 1960, "Acorns" (steamlined alloy tubes) were in place at the crossing points of the Flying & Landing wires. These were to limit resonance & vibration. Did aircraft of the Albatross period employ these too? |
bobgood | 25-Jan-21 16:24 | ....I've just checked! The Albatross did not need the flying/landing wire bracing. So this model is 100% perfect, as we would expect from Dfell. |
Dfell | 26-Jan-21 01:32 | Thank you bobgood - glad you were able to answer your question as I hadn’t a clue :) Have a plastic Albatros D11 model kit (unmade) and some books as reference and as far as I know have attached all wires. Regards |
Don C | 26-Jan-21 12:01 | Interesting question, Bob. Of the biplane I have built, only the Laird Solution did not have them. Curtis Hawk and Stearman did.
