Check out the present that I got from my Daughter-in-law today. Pretty nice! Huh?

What is it.... a Dremel drill press or Milling machine?

Careful. John O is after it!!! Don't blame him its a nice bit of kit.

It's a Dremel drill press. They call it a "Rotary Work Station" The head under the 'Dremel" name is where you put the dremel tool and you can drill into the stand or you can rotate the head 180 degrees in 15 degree increments. Plus it's got a hundred things that I'm just learning that you can do with it. It sells at Home Depot for $44.95. I'm thrilled with it.

Yet another Dremel accessory I have to get. And, I thought that I was having fun with the little circular saw attachment.

A circular saw attachment is the next thing I'm going to hope for. I haven't really started experimenting with this yet, I'm buliding the Mosquito. Maybe this weekend.

dremal is the best in mini type tool, are you able to use a flexy shaft with that
sweetwillie01-May-08 14:30
My power tool isn't a Dremel,it's a chinese knock off, it came with a flexi-shaft and 40 other attachments, but I've since ordered a couple of chucks to keep from having to use the small wrench and the trouble of changing cutting discs from Dremel that haven't fit the flexi-shaft, the threads don't match up. So far that's the only problem I've found with the chinese knock-off. It fits the Work Station perfectly.

I love Dremel tools. I have two motor tools, one plug-in and the other cordless, and a bench top jig saw with a grinding wheel and flex shaft attachment. The cordless motor tool seems to do everything as well as the plug-in one but there is a definite time limit on some of the heavy power using accessories such as the circular saw. I use the plug-in one, with the screw-on polishing wheel shaft, as a face lathe to turn spinners and wheels. The mini router/shaper table works well also. You might try a few home made mountings for it to make things like a disk sanding table. They'll probably bury you before you discover all the things you can do with it, models, household repairs...it's endless.

I've only had the power tool about a month, and I don't know how I was able to model without it. It enables me to do tasks that I just couldn't do. I just called Dremel about the accesories that i couldn't use because the threads were wrong, and they gave the threading on it and suggested that I re-thread it. It's worth a try. I hope it works, because everytime I change a cutting disk, I drop the screw or washer or keep fumbling with my fat fingers. It's frustrating.
