I thought I would share a few pics of a build a few yrs. ago. 1992.

"Gabby" Gabreski's D-Day markings. Notice black outline on white fuselage stripes. No black stripes painted on his plane. Stripes were not masked, hand painted to replicate original.

Wow poppy, in September 2007 issue of Fine Scale Modeler, Gabby's plane is featured as a new Hasegawa plastic kit and your project could be the photo in the magazine. Tremendous job. Deja vu or what?

Well, I guess the plastic people finally decided to try and duplicate what can be done with balsa.

poppy. You and others here have such a wealth of aircraft art in your hangers. It is inspiring and makes me wish I had started this hobby earlier in life. My Mig, that is under construction, is only the second plane that I have attempted to build. That is, if I don't count a Jenny, that I attempted at age thirteen!

Well John, with your Camel and the Mig, I would say that you have gotten up to speed pretty darn fast. It has taken me 57 yrs. to gain my skills. I built my first kit, carved balsa, when I was 7.

Your work is just as inspiring, John, and amazing, as well. It takes a lot of "huevos" to even try what you make look so easy. I suppose one must certainly give credit to your work force, too, but we all know "who's the Boss".

Thanks, compliments from builders like you guys means a lot. I hope I live long enough to make the six or seven planes that I have in mind.
