Elfi Flyer | 02-Dec-06 13:36 | This Moth fitted with a Winged Shadow "How High" altimeter, and highest recorded flight to date is 972 feet. The plane has been higher, prior to installation of the altimeter. As evidenced by the bubbly, this Moth has expensive tastes!! |
jgood | 03-Dec-06 13:02 | That's quite an amazing height for a 30" aircraft. How did you see it! I was just about loosing sight of my 36" Tyro in this shot (about 800 feet by comparing relative known heights of the buildings)...

Elfi Flyer | 03-Dec-06 17:12 | The plane, at this height, is just decernible as a plane, you can still see the wings. You MUST keep your eye on it all the time. Look away, then look back, and your eyes will have a hard time focusing on an object that small, you can easily lose the model. I have had the plane higher, to where it was literally a yellow spec, no clear or decernible detail of wings. This was in excess of 1000 feet, something I will probably NOT do again! The Moth means too much to me to lose by flying at such heights.
