jgood | 12-Oct-06 09:17 | NOW it's looking like a Bearcat, in that colour, with those markings! Looks like a bit of a squeeze in that cockpit though. Can you weigh one of these beauties and post the results here? I wonder how much all your extra stringers and painting add to the model? |
David Duckett | 12-Oct-06 11:57 | What you see here weighs 10.2 ounces. This is a control line model and I built it strictly according to directions which means it's fully covered with wood and there's not much else I can add. Sadly! The cockpit will probably get enlarged when I add the canopy and see just where it fits or I may just paint the area black. The plans don't give any instructions at all about details such as cockpit interior or the landing gear doors which I still have to make. And of course, the propeller. I still have one more coat of blue, at least, to paint on the main structure so I'll weigh it by itself and then again after the paint job. I'm painting relatively thin coats so I don't know how much the paint actually adds. |
David Duckett | 12-Oct-06 21:59 | One coat of blue paint on the main structure added 4 grams. |
