David Duckett | 06-Aug-18 17:14 | Now the pencil tracing is on the bottom so tracing it with a ball point pen transfers the tracing to the surface. A ball point pen is used because its rounded tip is easier on a surface whereas a pencil might tear the paper. |

David Duckett | 06-Aug-18 19:27 | I've been doing it this way for years. You don't need a lot of pressure while using a ball point pen this way so tracing over a silkspan covered area is safe. Another point is that pencil tends to smudge so with multiple letters cover the ones not being painted with paper. There is also a spray fixative available just for pencil drawings which will prevent smudges. |
