David Duckett | 01-Feb-18 17:20 | Seeing Don's build of this aircraft inspired me to build it again. This kit has some iussues and there are some things extra that will have to be designed and fabricated but I'm a much better builder than when I built it years ago. Everything in the box looks brand new, even the decals. |
David Duckett | 02-Feb-18 06:03 | *issues......The wheels are molded plastic halves which simply will not do so I will use Robart 2 1/2" wheels for the mains and Dave Brown 1 3/4" for the front. There are no instructions for making the air scoops on the leading edge or the antennas on the sides. The fin/rudder separation is curved but straight on the plans. However, there's nothing that can't be fixed and the quality of the wood is excellent. As usual, I have also bought a 1 /48 scale plastic kit to use for reference. And in doing some early research I found it was also painted an olive drab top and gray bottom so it may not be a Black Widow. Perhaps a Brown Recluse. |
Don C | 02-Feb-18 09:38 | 3 times larger. That would have helped my eyes. Looking forward to this. |
BillParker | 02-Feb-18 12:27 | If you check the tires, you'll see that they end up too wide to use their axles... Dave, I can't wait to watch this. Thanks in advance! |
Don C | 03-Feb-18 11:08 | DD, somewhere in my research I read that the AAF tested 3 color schemes for this one, OD, flat black and gloss black. Apparently the gloss black was the hardest to see in a spotlight so it was chosen. |
