Detailing....the details on this site grow with every model! BS..Off to the ranch this week to make some noise. The Russkie antique may get some exercise!

Very nice detail Barnstormer, this bird is turning out just perfect.

Mr. RodN do you recognise this bird? Its one from the 49th fighter group based in Australia during WW2. Sammy Pierce had 2 jap kills in this bird and a total of seven combined in other P-40s and P-38s.

BTW, Thanks so much for the kind words, coming from a master modeler such as yourself it such a great complement.

Vary nice there barmstormer, this is my next model i'm going to start, i got 4 kits(BF-109, Spitfire, Hellcat an Warhawk) an got the Spitfire finnished, didnt learn much on the detail of these kit till i saw this site. On my Hellcat, I have allready made soild rudder an elevader w/ working flaps an already coverd it with tissue an wanting to make the cockpit for this bird. do you think it might be to later to try this?
Barnstormer16-Apr-08 18:06
Thanks mdmorgan37, I think you should still be able to build a cockpit with some detail. You may want to start with the cockpit floor, some balsa or even heavy cardstock, carefully cut and fit. You will have to make sure you can glue the floor in place without upsetting the tissue covering. But if you do damage the tissue not to worrie it can be repaired. Once you have a floor you can go as detailed as you want, Insturment panel, side consoles, control stick, Seat, seat belts etc. If you have more questions just post them, there are many great modelers here on the V.A. that will happily help.
