LASTWOODSMAN | 10-Mar-17 10:06 | Huey - how did you do the fuse sheeting? did you soak it in water first, then tape it on and let it dry, and then glue it? or did you glue it on when the wood was wet? What glue did you use? did you glue along all of the former and longeron edges? |
Huey V77 | 10-Mar-17 11:57 | Woodie, I have 65# paper card stock that I use for paper models. I made a pattern first. Made a copy out of 1/32 sheet balsa. Sprayed the out side with Windex. Attached the sheet with C/A to the top stringer and wrapped with blue painters tape (it comes off easier). Then I used Tight Bond to finish gluing after the sheet had dried. The 1/32 sheet pulled back easy and didn't break. Had one small piece to fill in at the bottom. |
LASTWOODSMAN | 10-Mar-17 15:26 | Thanks Huey. Huey - you mentioned paper models - did you post pics on VA somewhere of your paper and cardmodels (if so, what aircraft are they under?)- I thought I saw some somewhere but I can't find them. I would like to try a couple of those, I even had previously printed out "Fiddlers Green" website of their "early flying machines" models, pics and history. They only take paypal and you have to order on line. I can't even find their address or phone number ... Any Hobby shops in the USA or Canada sell their models? |
Huey V77 | 10-Mar-17 19:26 | No, I haven't posted any. I have 300+ Fiddlers Green items. When I was board, while in Afghanistan (5 months) I'd build some of them. Then I found Ecandmodels, much better models. They even have the F2G that my frend Dick Becker flew (Race 74). Unfortunately Bob Odegard was killed with it a couple of years ago (also a friend). |
LASTWOODSMAN | 10-Mar-17 20:53 | Sorry about your buddies... Thanks for the Ecardmodels website tip. |
Don C | 11-Mar-17 17:23 | Huey, was that Bob Odegard by any chance originally from southern Minnesota? |
