| This is looking great! Yellow is hard,on any surface,to get right. Maybe DD has some ideas for us. The yellow tips on the prop he supplied for my Hellcat were perfect and looked like only one coat. Again, a grand looking model. |

| Yellow is a very translucent color and needs to be underpainted. I mix white with the yellow to make it more opaque and then use that as the primer. It doesn't have to be precise. Usually a couple of coats will be enough and then you can paint on the pure color. That's how all the yellow on my models is done. The same idea works with all colors. The exception is red and although it will work over a pink undercoat it will also work quite well over gray. |

| This is looking very sharp. What's the best type of masking tape to use? I ask because I have the Guillow's B-25 Mitchell and series 400 P-40 Warhawk in my stash to build after I've finished my SE5a, and will most probably be painting them (definitely the B-25). |

| Thanks for the tip Dave, I'll just have to keep adding more layers of yellow. That isn't too bad as most of the yellow is on the front, which needs more weight anyway. Current weight is 24.8 grams. I am using Parma masking tape (part # par40280 at Hobbylinc.com) and had no trouble with peeling it off of the dry paint and minimal seeping under it. |

| I think that if you will make the lightened yellow as described one more coat of it will proably be enough to seal the color and after that you should be able to finish with only a couple of more coats of the real color. |
