I loved going flying in a Piper Cherokee Arrow II - from Gillespie to Lake Havasu back in the day...but you can see out of a Cherokee pretty well. This thing...I dunno man

Heywoood, you've done a masterful job on this racer. Really impressive, right down to the rigging. The rigging alone must have posed some challenges. Really admire your approach. Fantastic build. Congratulations! Looking forward to your next build.

BTW: I used to fly all makes of the PA-28 Cherokee series. Only one I didn't like was the Piper Arrow Mk. IV with the T-tail and turbocharged engine without any cowl flaps for cooling. Had to enrichen the mixture to keep the engine cooled down. Because it was out of the prop wash, combined with the wing blanking the airflow, that T-tail had a tendency to stall first during the flare to the runway making for some "interesting" landings.

I heard that that -T-tail was a terrible flaw. The only reason they did that was aesthetics. What a stupid thing to do. I did not know about the cooling problem - yikes. What did the plugs look like running her rich all the time?

I have to tell ya man the Arrow II with the conventional tail and retracts was a nice little airplane, especially with a 3-blade prop.

To be honest, every time during the build that I thought about the rigging I had to set it aside. I really wasn't sure what I would do. Its kind of funny that it was the same for the door hinges. I had to buy a pack of the tubing because they weren't sold in singles. That being the case I bought two lengths of the fine wire that fit inside the tubing. Like buying more hotdog buns than you need because of the damn packaging. Wouldn't you know the extra wire was exactly the amount needed for the rigging? I'm not kidding. There was 1-1/2" of the wire left over after I was done. So when you say you admire my approach I have to tell you all you need is a blindfold and someone to spin you around a few times before you begin your next build - that was pretty much my approach .. the appearance that it all worked out in the end is a happy surprise. I am very grateful to have this venue / confessional to share my 'methods' with you all. Thank you for your generous encouragements

No need for confessions. We all try things. Just about every model gives me a " How the heck did I pull that off?" moment. All the kudos are nice, but sharing and learning is what it's all about. Eh?
