deckape | 04-Apr-11 10:45 | I modified the kit into a early C model |
Brian Kostecki | 04-Apr-11 20:06 | Wow - great job with the mods! It doesn't even look like the Guillow's kit anymore. |
deckape | 04-Apr-11 20:18 | When I first got the kit It weas a J model I am not to partial to J models I always liked the earlier models without the holly carburater system they employed through out the war years,At first i wanted to make it a tokyo raider, but after watching the twighlight zone King nine I decided to model her in the North Africa campaign. the kit had to be rebuilt useing North American builder plans from inglewood california. I filled in between the formers with blue foam board and useing templates sanded and filed until it was in the right perspective. Landing gear to the kit was scuddled. i made home made landing gear struts useing aluminum tubeing The cowlings were thrown away I made mine useing my lathe following the plans the early C models had no Holly exaust system the nose green house was vacuformed, the wings were covered with 1/64 balsa sheets I brushed on sears filled epoxy and wet and dry sanded primed and finished off desert pink and Azure blue with a airbrush. tedious but effective. Thank you for your reply I enjoy this forum you fellas build some very good models the best I seen in years and many more to come A HARDY WELL DONE TO YOU ALL. |
