| Finished, balanced and weighing in at 33.8g (1.39oz), without rubber. This is a good weight for indoor flying and may even be able to R.O.G. off a smooth floor. Unfortunately I built the float struts too short and needed to use a smaller home-build 3 blade balsa prop instead of the kit prop. |

| John - ROG is Rise Off Ground, mostly a free flight modelling term for the somewhat ellusive ability of a model to take off on its own power. |

| The struts, as originally designed were scale length. This would not give clearance for the 7 inch, black prop in the kit and the 5 inch, red prop is just for show, not flying. Your 3-blader looks good, I have used a very aggressive, 6 inch, Ikara (Czech) prop with a prototype on floats, but it is at kit weight of 50 grams, with floats, and while it flies would have no chance at an R.O.G. The real challenge would be to get one of these to R.O.W.! |

| Glad to see another Beaver float plane join the V.A. Fun kit to build. Very much like your version. I used a 5" RC Champ prop for a scale look, but your 3 blade looks better. |

| In order to ROW you'll need some extra power at the start which is provided by the Onboard Aquatic Reserve, OAR. |

| I got a chance to start trimming the model - Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdXRtjpVRyM&feature=youtu.be . I needed to reduce the prop diameter and add a larger sub fin to get it to stop it from spiralling in a tight turn. This flight has 500 turns. I think my balsa prop is suspect and that I could get a longer flight with a better prop. The model will not even come close to doing an R.O.G. - there is too much friction with the floor. I will add little wheels to the floats. |

I also got the model to actually ROG with this amount of power (sorry no video yet), but it only got about 8 ft high. |
