covered!

Great job. I bet all that covering was a challenge with the fuselage tapering down to the nose and you did it very well.

Skye's right. Nice job covering those curves.

another vote for a nice covering job.

thanks sky, don, and rayl. It wasn't that hard covering. it was actually easier than covering a prop fuselage.

maybe i'm getting better at it?

question for david or anyone? when applying diels decals should you apply four coats of krylon for them to work right?
rayl18-Mar-16 17:33
Brian: Yes, after your finish color coat a gloss coat of some kind is the best idea. If you use a glossy finish color coat, I would still lay on a coat or two of gloss. The gloss coat prevents the carrier film from "silvering" as it will when applied over a flat coat of paint.. After applying the decals you can put on another coat of gloss (or satin, or flat, depending on how you want your model to look). This final coat lets the decal carrier film blend in with the rest of the finish. Seems like a lot of coats of finish, but now matter how good the underlying structure is, the surface of the model is what you see. Any good wood-worker will tell you that doing the finish is 60% of the time involved in a project and 80% of the work. Didn't mean to carried away here.
