Help!!! |
sweetwillie | 20-Feb-08 23:40 |
I've got a problem. I made these struts exactly according to the plans. I made very sure that the cuts were exact and that when I laid them on the plan, they were precise. the left wing struts are a good fit, but, as you can see, none of the others are even close. The wing has a warp to it. and I can't figure out how to make them fit. Can anyone help, or is it too flawed to fix? |

Did you not add the proper dihedral? |

The proper dihederal wouldn't help on the cabane struts. |

My suggestion...snip the existing struts off of the plane. Starting with the cabane struts make a new set of struts. Use music wire pins in the new struts to attached them to the fuse. Attach the wing to the cabane struts. Custom cut new wing struts and pin into place. A lot of work but better than starting over. |

John, thanks for your advice. Please, explain the use of the pins to attach them to the fuse and about pinning the struts to the wings. I'm can't visualize how it's done. Pardon my dumbness. |

When you make the struts laminate two thin pieces glue a wire pin or tab into each end of the strut. The wire or Al tab gives you "Wiggle" room to bend the strut to you liking. |

OK! Now I see what you mean. Thanks John. Stay tuned. |
