Making room on top of piano for more.

What type of piano is that EB? We had a Monnington & Western piano in the UK, some years back. It was a double iron frame, over-strung & under-damped, a very nice piece. What spec is your instrument? Like the aero display too, the Corsair looks super.

Thanks guys. Brian I gave a few to the grand-kids and friends but I still need room for the new ones. Bob, I always wanted a player piano so I bought one. I purchased a book, refinished and repaired the wood, took it apart and repaired the bellows on the player action and now it plays. Unfortunately I don't know as much about music and instruments as I do about repairing things. From researching I do know it is a Schaff Bros. Co. piano with a Pratt Read player action. I installed a motor because pumping the foot pedals will wear you out. It's over a hundred years old. Probably out of tune but when I crank it up it brings a smile to your face.

That sounds like a super project EB - what sort of music on roll do you have? ( Sorry to digress from model flying machines, but there are some very wide interests on VA member lists) - great team!

Does anybody else hang their models on the wall or am I just an oddball? Bob I have a wide variety, over a hundred rolls.

The piano looks great. KI think maybe it's enhanced by the planes. I like the wall idea, but my wife overruled it. So they hang upstairs.

When I had RC planes, I hung them from the wall by their tail feathers using standard adjustable shelf holders, the kind that is a track on the wall that you slide the shelf brace into. I'm currently remodeling my "art room" and plan to build shelve that fold down to hold the airplanes to be displayed. Still working on the plans for that.

Nice. I am a new member. I am attempting to build the Corsair kit that you finished. What did you use for hinge material?
edbecky17-May-20 09:15
I cut a Diet Coke can into strips and use that for all my builds. The cans I use are real thin so I fold the strips to double the thickness. I just build for display so maybe some of the other members can suggest material for flying models.

Thank you. I have another question. Why join flaps and ailerons with wire and hinges when only hinges will suffice for a display model? It would allow me to paint these parts separately and not be attached to the wing to allow more precise painting. Then I could attach the hinges as a final step. Even Guillows mentions joining hinged parts as a last step?
