BriandKilby | 21-Jan-15 11:58 | predecessor of the dart series? |
rayl | 21-Jan-15 12:12 | Yep. Based on Dr. Lippisch's work in WWII Germany. The '9r was the predecessor 0f the '102, '106, B-58, Sea Dart, and the Pogo. It was marginally super-sonic and reportably had good handling characteristics. |
BriandKilby | 21-Jan-15 13:47 | cool! |
David Duckett | 22-Jan-15 01:26 | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnwZLk7s6PI Tall Man 55 is a film from 1960 about B-58s making a simulated bomb run against a RBS site. RBS is Radar Bomb Scoring and is what I did from 1964 to 1968 with a couple of trips to Viet Nam thrown in where the radar was used to direct real bomb drops. I saw F-102s in the early 60s while stationed in Spain. While I was stationed here from 74 to 79 our shop was next door to an alert hanger which housed two F-106s and it was a real pleasure when they came out to play. Nearly everything else was camouflaged at the time but they were shiny gray and quite impressive taking off, shaking the whole hanger! |
