Three colors on colored tissue......how did you handle primer for these??? cdwheatley 27-Nov-07 15:06 Yes David, I was quite pleased with the results, not bad for a first attempt anyway. Moostang, this was the first time I'd used acrylics since I used to make Tamiya 1/35 scale AFVs many moons ago and used their own paints to paint them with. I found they dried so fast that I had a very hard time applying them satisfactorily, and this put me off these paints, and I suppose acrylics in general. Trouble is I've never been able to get a decent finish with paints and brushes alone, and that's why I began to finish my models using coloured tissue instead. However, I have a Guillows B-25 Mitchell lined up and also a series 400 P-40 Warhawk to practice on first, with at least the B-25 requiring painting, so I knew I needed to give it another go. I chose Liquitex purely because they are DD's medium of choice - I figured that if HE used them then they must be good! I found them much easier to use than the Tamiya ready mixed paints, with longer, though still quick, drying times. I followed DD's excellent tutorial on the Guillow's forum and applied a grey primer first, then several thin coats (it seemed like about 6-8) of each colour, although I think I need to apply still thinner coats next time. Some day I'll even get a plane to fly after being painted with Liquitex. hjlittman 27-Nov-07 20:22 Chris, there is no reason that you can't get a model carefully done with Liquitex to fly.
