jace314 | 04-Aug-11 00:14 | Very NICE! When you dope and silk over sheeted balsa, do you put down the dope over the whole surface, and lay down your wet silk, then proceed to press down the silk with your fingers, or just start brushing a coat of dope over the entire silked area? Of course when its all dry I know you dope it a couple more coats for paint. |
David Duckett | 04-Aug-11 04:58 | I put the silkspan in water and then lay it on a towel which absorbs most of the water. I paint on enough dope along one edge to hold the silkspan in place and then smooth the silkspan out over the entire area being covered. Then I paint a coat of dope over the whole piece, smoothing it out as I go. When it dries I paint on another coat. |
jace314 | 04-Aug-11 09:42 | Thanks so much for all the info. I will be sure to put it all to good use as i work on the FW-190. |
