The decals!!! Will apply light coats of Krylon Clear.
BriandKilby26-Sep-15 08:41
what size decals are they julinick? how did you acquire them?
julinick26-Sep-15 09:06
These are in 1/32 scale from http://www.canmilair.com. Very high quality decals that are expensive. These were $60.00 CND, but well worth it. I also order decals for the Lancaster build from them.
BriandKilby26-Sep-15 12:55
is the superfortress about 1/32 scale?
David Duckett26-Sep-15 13:27
Yes, Brian, it is. The Guillows DC-3 and B-25 are also in that scale as are some of the 500 series.

is the mosquito 1/32 also?
David Duckett26-Sep-15 14:41
No, it's 7/16.

Not all custom decals are made the same.

This is probably too late, but since I'm seeing this post today, so I would imagine other members of the VA will see this posting on decals as well. I tried to order from canmilair and basically he dumped me. Said I was "...too complicated in my request and was taking up too much of his time." He also mentioned something about being caught up in helping his daughter move into her first home and my requests were interfering with his schedule. That's when I started searching for an alternate source and found John Brantley. He's not as expensive and may be not the best, but he's doing good.

Sorry to hear that Skyediamonds. I've ordered decals from him twice, the other for the Lancaster build and never had an issue. I know his web page was down for a bit because he was having printing issues with the decals. Glad you found another source and let us know how you made out.

Yes, it is unfortunate. My point was only to show that white can be printed on clear film but at a price. I would guess that these were made using an ALPS printer, or the equivalent, and those certainly aren't cheap.
julinick31-Mar-16 15:05
You're correct David. They were printed on a ALPS printer. The only down side is the film is very thin and you can easily tare the decal if you're not careful. I applied several light coats of Krylon Clear to toughen them.
