I mixed mine, latex and brushed it on. Cybermodeler Online has some good color charts with names and numbers. https://www.cybermodeler.com/color/usn_matrix.shtml |

The fancy ones I order from Callie. I have printed some with my printer. What are you looking for? |

i was putting decals on the rudder of my 1/48 scale Italian fighter and messed one of them up. I was wondering is it possible to remake the one side or look at other options. I don't know how it works. I use to make decals from the testors sheets, but they weren't really that great. thanks don. |

You can buy waterslide decal paper from office supply stores like Staples. Even from amazon. I wasn't real impressed with Testors either. There's clear and white background. I don't think you can print white. It may take a try or two to get it right, so just print on paper first. If you have a picture of what you want, scan it into your computer and play around with printing it on paper first. once you get it right, then do the decal print. A couple of light coats of Krylon clear after the ink dries will make it stronger. |

I print waterslide decals all the time. I just posted pictures of using them on the entire wing of my Hannover (http://www.virtualaerodrome.com/image_detail.html?p_aircraft_id=689&p_image_id=42089&offset=). Works great! Just make sure to spray a clear Acrylic over the decal before putting them in water. Otherwise, the ink will come off. You can't print white, so if you need white, use the white background paper. |

when I was printing decals along time ago the decals would show up tinted blue from the background of the model decals on white paper and on the clear sheets, the decals were clear where the white should be. has making decals got better since then,
I still have one of the rudder decals. what kind of decal paper do you use? I think my scanner is broken, though. It makes copies, would that work? thanks ed. |

Good point! The white waterslide decal film is pretty thin and slightly transparent. So, if you apply the decal to a colored surface, it will darken and change the tint. So if you apply the decal to a dark blue surface (e.g. Navy colors), it will make the white look blueish. I tend to paint the surface the decal goes on with a base of white to help.
As for making photocopies, I have no idea! Never tried it. But it would be worth a try. If your photocopier supports copying pictures onto photo printer paper (gloss surface), I bet it would work. |
