Darned! Never thought of using my fly vice as a extra helper! Time to break out the kit! I need to tie some bass flies soon anyway. I'll just leave it out and us it for this hobby too!

Great idea for detail work. Us older guys could use the magnifying glass for straight up work. :-)

I've recently gone to the flip down magnifier goggles. Can't believe how much it helps (and how bad my eyes are getting!). However, I'm keen on the idea of the back lit magnifier too. Looks like I need to make another Amazon order!

My Dad was an avid trout fisherman and tied his own flys, often selling them to other folks he met in the river. He was very good. He sent a collection of his flys to President Eisenhower, also a fisherman, and got a letter back from him saying thank you and that he was looking forward to using them. I'm sure it was the highlight of his life. My Mom also tied and she was as good as Dad. My brother tied and I know how but don't.

I met a man while trout fishing here in Virginia who had those flip-down magnifiers attached to the bill of his hat. He said it was the only way he could see well enough to attach the tippet to his smaller flys. I need one of those. I have trouble even seeing the tippet.
