the distance between each post at the underwing attachment points is 66mm exactly. Front to back and side to side..66mm..a perfect square. What are the odds?? So I carefully centered that virtual 'box' onto the underside of the wing and all four piano wire cores slid neatly into place. I still cannot believe it. The wing is not cemented in place yet as I still need to primer and paint it. But Houston...we have an airplane

This is really coming along! Nice looking model.

Thank you, Ed - this model is another of those that has a deceptively simple look to it but demands a bit of extra effort to successfully render accurately. Hopefully I’ll be able to say I managed it..we’ll see. I’m pretty happy with it so far though. Working on the cowling and the rest of the cabane strut crossbars today. Pouring rain here. Love the sound of it on the hangar roof while I’m working away

Don't you love it when something works out just as planned? But from what I've seen here, that's just what I would expect. That's really looking good.

That's a beauty. There are so many ways a wing can end up crooked that it's amazing when one comes out right. I celebrate with you this morning as, with much trepidation, I glued the upper wing in place on the SE5a. The wing struts had been glued in place already to the lower wing and literally, with a wing and a prayer, I set the upper wing in place and the cabane struts lined-up! Oh happy day!

First thing I did this morning after pouring a cuppa joe was go out and check to see if it really happened. Took a few measurements and yes - I wasn’t dreaming. The fitment is good. I have the crossbars installed now. Much detailing and finish work still to do on the cowling and its vacuformed motor.

Thanks Don and biplaneguy - been watching both of your recent projects and have been inspired by them as usual. I appreciate your encouragements greatly.
