David Duckett | 20-Aug-07 18:35 | The decals are totally dried out so I"ll have to devise another plan. This was not a factory fresh kit. |
moostang51 | 20-Aug-07 18:51 | David, I believe on your PBY build you said you use Testor's wood cement for plastic piece attachment and seal the seam with your finger. Gonna have to try that because the seam (what seam) on your canopy looks great. Sorry to hear about the decals but I'm SURE you'll figure something out. |
David Duckett | 21-Aug-07 01:50 | The canopy was attached using medium CA. I then used some micro fill and eventually some testors wood glue for the final filling in. These days I use medium CA for almost all plastic-to-balsa pieces and once the piece is in place I will switch to Testors because it can be sanded and is much better at filling gaps. There are times when plastic cement is used as some plastic pieces seem to adhere better with it. I've ordered decals for the Guillows F-14, 15, and 16 and the Bird Dog so I'll have plenty. What I actually need are the red ejection seat triangles and rescue markings. I have plenty of extra decals to make it British overnight but I'll wait to see what the mail brings before making that decision. It WILL stay the same color. |
