I had taken a break for a few days. I'm not real pleased with this effort I gotta say. Nothing wrong with the kit - I'm just not getting the results I had hoped for or expected...it happens sometimes and often times I can adjust or make corrections but for whatever reason it just isn't happening on this project. I will complete the panel lines and apply the decals - seal it with a semi gloss clear coat and call it good. Maybe a break from building is called for.

I think it looks good, can you mention what you would change/ do better? I have several builds going at once. If i get stuck i go on with another one untill i get a solution to a problem. Many friends tell me that i should focus on one untill im done. I respond with the fact that i have more than enough to fly. I build for the fun, no haste. Take a break and decide what to do :)

If I had a choice to go back and start over I would probably not have tried to cut the canopy up to make it operable. This canopy is probably made of the thinnest material I have yet encountered. I though building a suitable frame would make it manageable but that didn't pan out. Since that area is a huge focal point of any model this one in particular because the F100 is so basic in form, it just creates too much of a distraction to the eye. too messy for me in other words. There are other issues with the finish and without itemizing it all I'll just say this wasn't my best work and regroup...it happens sometimes. Moving on

You know, Heywoood, we all know the flaws in our work and what didn't work like we figured, but usually no one else does. I know what you're feeling, but to me it looks good. I'm waiting for the decals, etc. I don't think I'd toss it. I am modifying a Diels F-86 canopy for the F9f. You're right. They are about as light a material as you can get. It's going to be the very last thing done to the model before it goes on display. Otherwise I'll probably crush it.Just so you don't feel alone - I have about the smoothest paint job I have ever done on that wing - but the color just isn't right, so it's coming off. Just bought the new paint today. Onward and upward!
