I just gave "Olive" to my grandson the astronomer. It's flight time at the cabin has come to a close. Olive now flys missions in Judson's bedroom. Redoing the air museum in the cabin. Dedicating the air space to biplanes only. Can someone tell me what type of Mustang I have built? |

For all good intentions I'd say it is a P51D. |

Thank you kind sir. You have supplied me with my factoid of the day. I never realized that there were so many variants to the P-51. Part of modeling aero planes is learning their history. |

Hay, keep the power dry... |

If anyone is interested, there's a documentary series on Netflix called "Plane Resurrection." The first episode details the five year quest of a Britsh aeronautical engineer to completely restore a derelict P-51D that he found in New Zealand. He not only had to fabricate parts for the plane but rebuilt the Merlin engine as well. A reunion with its original ace pilot caps it all off. Great show. |

nice john! did you cover it with monocote? |
John M Oshust | 12-Jan-17 16:34 |
Brian, My aluminum planes are covered with aluminum duct tape. Eac pice cut to fit a body or wing panel. |

it must take a lot of skill to do that! |

More patience than skills. |
