BillParker | 06-Feb-10 08:31 | Having never tried this before... I'm using 1/8" "planks." Surprisingly fun and easy to fit them, however it's going to take what looks like an infinite number of them to fill in the blanks. I decided on the thick stock because I assumed that it would be easy to work with, and so far I'm right. As we'll all see later, weight is just not going to be an issue. |
Xanadu | 06-Feb-10 10:07 | Ah.......another one is converted into planking.
You have been assimilated! |
BillParker | 07-Feb-10 05:54 | Mr. Duckett, do I cover it with silkspan once it's sanded, filled, sanded, and sealed? |
David Duckett | 07-Feb-10 06:20 | I do but after the prep it looks good painted, too. I didn't cover the nose cone of the THUD or the Harrier and I didn't cover the fuselage of the Dornier 335, either. And Poppy doesn't cover at all. |
BillParker | 07-Feb-10 09:57 | Okay. I'm shootin' for "Candy Apple Red..." So it'll have a silver base coat over the primer, then the candy. The primer will tell me where I need work. |
