moostang51 | 04-Nov-10 17:38 | Any problems with the bellypan marrying up to the sheathing DD? Will it be planked or silk-spanned? Questions, always questions. Never built a Dumas laser kit before, but even the TF Spitty with its' many laser cut parts required extra care to create a smooth transition. Looks wonderful. |
David Duckett | 04-Nov-10 18:03 | I had to remove about 1/16" from the base of the formers in front and at the rear of the wing for them to be flush with the fuselage. The three formers in between fit perfectly. This section was planked and the second coat of filler is drying. The laser cut parts in a Dumas kit are a joy to work with and they allow the model to be built more accurately because they all fit as they should. I had the same feelings about the Guillows Fokker Triplane which had laser cut parts. I find Dumas kits fairly easy to build but the instructions are usually "off" in more than one place. The illustrations are usually correct so I use them to build what I see there. |

David Duckett | 05-Nov-10 08:07 | Thanks. I should mention that the reason I had to trim the formers is due to my building, not the parts. |
