David Duckett | 04-Jun-14 09:34 | It IS a pretty plane. At this point I was considering racing stripes instead of these decals. |
David Duckett | 04-Jun-14 10:07 | About the color. It's light gray with iridescent silver added. The first two or three coats were light gray, the next two or three were with the silver added, and the final three or four were with more silver added. Liquitex makes several iridescent colors, bronze, gold, copper...., and they all look like snot by themselves. They are incredibly translucent and the only way to get a uniform color is by spraying. Liquitex also makes spray acrylic at about $15 per can. However, when mixed with a base color they impart a warmth and soft glow to the original color. That's why this looks more like a pearl than a piece of metal. The iridescent colors have zillions of mica flakes added and that's why the paint is shiny, if not reflective. |
