crob | 04-Sep-21 10:00 | Clipped wing cub - first ever balsa model. 3d printed parts, alum tape panels here and there. bad paint, covering, and blemishes all over it. Im just going to pretend that it's been in a barn for 30 years and has a severe case of hanger rash. |
bobgood | 04-Sep-21 16:14 | Looking very real though crob! Like it a lot.... |
bsadonkill | 04-Sep-21 18:27 | I think it looks good, cowl and landing gear detail is great! |
edtherenderman | 07-Sep-21 08:32 | Good looking build! That's a challenging paint scheme. Camo is so much easier...no straight lines unless you are doing D-Day invasion strips! :) |
heywooood | 07-Sep-21 22:44 | look - if this is your initial effort at making a balsa model you're ahead of the game by a fair margin.
You've got nice scale details that you fabricated yourself, separate control surfaces, a fairly complex paint scheme well applied, and decent glazing installed. Solid effort! |
edbecky | 08-Sep-21 08:42 | Nice job. |
crob | 08-Sep-21 09:12 | Thank you all for the comments. Although it is my first balsa model, I’ve picked up several tricks from 10 years of doing plastic that I think helped me out. I had so much fun building this, I don’t know if I’ll ever go back ( well… I need to, I have a closet full of them still). I was actually on some plastic model forums and ran across Heywood and David Duckett models and from there I was convinced , now hooked for sure. Long list of so many fantastic craftsman on here, tons of inspiration on hand. |
