David Duckett | 10-Feb-12 07:00 | The engine nacelles are also built on a beam same as the fuselage. They will actually be built on the wing but first all the formers must be cut to fit on the beam. |
Dfell | 10-Feb-12 07:11 | Must be your hardest / largest build to date.
It will look fantastic and it does now |
David Duckett | 10-Feb-12 07:50 | I've built larger and more difficult models and while there's definitely a lot of work, and wood, involved, I don't consider it particularly hard to build. I wouldn't recommend it to a "long time lurker, first time builder", though. The lack of plastic is actually a bonus cause balsa is easier to handle, and the shapes are all fairly simple. |
TJH | 10-Feb-12 08:48 | This is looking great, and I'm enjoying watching it take shape. I do have to agree with you, the wood is much easier to work with than plastic. I had to substitute wood for plastic on my recent Citabria builds and it went well. |
Brian Kostecki | 10-Feb-12 08:48 | It definitely looks difficult from the lurker's perspective. What kits come to mind as having been more difficult for you, David? |
David Duckett | 10-Feb-12 09:01 | All the big Guillows kits because there is so much plastic, the Dave Diels kits ( DO 335 ), the West Wings Sea Fury...It does take a lot of time prepping all the parts for this plane but the actual assembly is fairly easy. |
